This recognition to an Argentine university is given within the framework of a project that seeks to close the gap in the exchange of research data

This recognition of an Argentine university, backed by international financing, is of great importance and marks a precedent worldwide, given that the project was selected among 185 proposals, placing it among the only 12 projects chosen. Which is it?

This is the Universidad Nacional de Rosario (A R) which was honored by the DataCite Global Access Fund, as a result of the presentation of a project prepared by the management team of the Academic Data Repository. In 2023, the DataCite Global Access Fund (GAF) was launched, a program aimed at encouraging organizations around the world to make their research results accessible and integrate into an open global infrastructure.

This program seeks to provide financial support for both outreach activities and infrastructure development, thus allowing organizations from regions and communities currently underrepresented in the global open science infrastructure landscape to benefit from DataCite services.

Marking an academic milestone, the Universidad Nacional de Rosario is among the first group of 12 organizations and projects selected to receive funding. This call received 185 applications from all over Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.

The project presented by the house of higher studies aims to close the gap in the understanding of the benefits of the exchange of research data and the use of persistent identifiers (PID), in line with the FAIR principles. This seeks to make research data easy to find, accessible, interoperable and reusable.

Additionally, by raising awareness of the benefits of PIDs for data visibility, citation, and compliance with international open data standards, the project motivates researchers to deposit more datasets in the RDA Academic Data Repository -UNR, thus promoting a culture of open science and transparency.

The idea of ​​this system is that all researchers can have their research interconnected and that it is open to their peers, as well as to the academic community. This modality of work takes on greater relevance in a context where science has to continually demonstrate progress and results.

At present, In Latin America, there are only two Universities that have accessed this recognition, and the Universidad Nacional de Rosario She was the only one in the country to achieve it.
