Today Rosario is recognized in the country and internationally for the work of professionals who stand out in the most diverse areas and who were trained at the city's public University.

This year, one of the goals of the UNR was to accompany, through the REGRESS program, hundreds of students who were close to finishing their studies so that they can graduate, obtain their university degree, and complete their degree. There are already two calls launched with a notable response, with stories from each of these people who for different reasons had not been able to complete the university cycle and who today have their professional degree.

To subscribe to Program Return it is necessary to complete the following form https://unr.edu.ar/programa-regresar/ so that a tutor can then begin monitoring each case, ask the faculties which subjects have been regularized and gradually and progressively plan a path that allows the degree to be completed.

"If there is something that concerns us, it is to make the University more present in Rosario and its region, and generate actions so that those who cannot yet access the Public University can access it.. REGRESAR is a wonderful tool with which we set out to find hundreds of students who for some reason at some point in their lives had to abandon their studies. Accompanying them to finish is our goal, and the first responses we are receiving this year are fantastic, with many stories that had been interrupted and today can tell a happy ending. We believe a lot in that, continue working to make our University bigger and bigger and at the same time, be very present and attentive to accompany each member of your community,” said Bartolacci.

New Careers

Adding new degree programs is another of UNR's bets that This year he already had his first year of studying Graphic Design and Clothing Design, plus open registration for two new highly sought-after careers such as the Bachelor's Degree in Real Estate Brokerage and the Bachelor's Degree in Citizen Security that will begin to be taken in 2024. Each of these training paths have modern study plans and a duration of 4 years. In the second administration that Bartolacci begins, it is planned to open a new Faculty that incorporates disciplines linked to Physical Education, body care and the promotion of healthy practices.

The UNR works to modernize administrative tasks, promote short training paths, transform curricula, and teaching methods. “The world is changing rapidly and for the University to continue fulfilling its mission well, it is also necessary to promote profound administrative and academic reforms. We must diversify and multiply even more our academic proposal, respond to the expectations of young people who, according to our statistics, migrate towards new paths and areas that are not contained in the sections traditionally offered by the university,” added the rector.

A little bit of history

On November 29, 1968, the Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR) through Law 17.987 that determined the autonomy of the powers established in the city that since 1919 and until then depended on the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL).

But university life in the city began much earlier, the first antecedents dating back to 1910 when a commission was created with the purpose of building a teaching hospital, promoting science and education. In those years, with the donation by the Municipality of the land located between Vera Mujica, Santa Fe, Urquiza and Francia and private contributions, the buildings that began to function in 1920 began to be built.

“It is a time of legitimate concerns, of reasonable uncertainty, sometimes fear embraces us, but I want to share today in this celebration, even with everything and despite everything, a message of hope,” said Rector Bartolacci.

At that time, in addition to the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Pharmacies and minor branches, the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical-Chemical, and Natural Sciences applied to Industry were established in Rosario; and the Faculty of Economic and Political Sciences. In the following years, others were incorporated: Philosophy; Politic science; Odontology; Agricultural Sciences, Architecture, Veterinary Sciences and Psychology. In addition to the teaching hospitals, two secondary schools, the Superior Institute of Music of Rosario and the Superior Institute of Fine Arts.

There were several occasions in which projects were presented to formalize the University in Rosario, but they did not prosper. Already in 1968, due to negotiations for the creation of the School of Law, progress was finally made in the grouping of the academic and administrative units that gave rise to the UNR.

With the recovery of democracy in 1983, the university regained its autonomy, its freedoms, the fullness of student life, and the legality of its statutes. When President Raúl Alfonsín took office, he determined to begin the normalization of the universities that were aimed at institutional reconstruction following the paths of the reformist tradition.

The UNR first adopted the UNL statute while retracing the normalization that concluded with the 1986 statute where co-government was ratified with teachers, students, graduates and non-teachers. For the first time since its creation, the UNR had its governing bodies fully operational and began a period of transformations and continuous actions, which have not been interrupted to this day.

The current structure includes 12 faculties, 7 secondary education proposals, 1 center for interdisciplinary studies and 13 institutes of double dependency research in conjunction with Conicet. Party in Plaza Canada

In the heart of the University City, in Plaza Canada and in the SUM of Architecture, a great party was held on Wednesday night that brought together thousands of students, teachers, graduates, novices, members of the UNR community who shared good times, as well There was space to dance and toast.

Rector Bartolacci called to go through this time of uncertainty with a message of hope. “It is a time of legitimate concerns, of reasonable uncertainty, sometimes fear embraces us, but I want to share today in this celebration even with everything and despite everything a message of hope. We are proud children of a city that was never in anyone's plans, that was made by the spirit and commitment of its people. And we are part of a community, that if one searches for the record of the history of this city, one will find the mark of what the Public University contributed to its development at each historical moment.”

“We are -modestly and with all due respect- heirs of the young people who more than 100 years ago dared to break the last chain that tied them to the university that could no longer be and moved forward with the conviction that it was necessary for them to That university fulfills its mission by turning around and facing the problems of its time. We are custodians of those who decided some time later to break the barriers that prevented the children of workers from entering the Public University and defined what makes us unique in the world, which is to guarantee free, no tariffs so that these children of workers "They can reach our university."
