Using books as seeds, the activity promotes access to culture, the right to read, and encounters in public spaces.
Next Thursday, July 3rd, from 10:00 a.m. to 13:30 p.m., the Book Planting Festival returns, a day for sharing reading material, giving away books, and bringing the university closer to the community.
Organized by the UNR Library Network (ReBiUNR – COMABI), with the collaboration of the Academic and Learning Area and the University Well-being Area, it will be held simultaneously at two strategic locations: the University Cafeteria in the Health Area (Richieri 690) and the University Cafeteria at the La Siberia campus (Berutti 2202).
Books as seeds: a day of exchange and encounter.
The Book Planting campaign aims to encourage the circulation of reading material, promote access to culture, and raise awareness of the work of university libraries. During the event, books will be distributed free of charge to those who attend, with the hope that each copy will find a new reader. As the organizers state, "Every book is a seed that can blossom in a reader."".
Participants will also be able to learn more about the digital catalogs, learn how to use them, and access information about the resources available at the UNR libraries, such as loans, schedules, cultural activities, and academic guidance services.
In addition to the book distribution, informational materials on the university's various majors and study programs will be provided, with the aim of guiding and motivating prospective students.

Reading in community, reading in public.
La Siembra is part of a series of initiatives supported by ReBiUNR that seek to bring libraries closer to the daily lives of the university community and the general public. It is a proposal that links the pleasure of reading, the right to knowledge, and the university's public space as a place for meeting, cultural exchange, and future development.
The invitation is open to students, faculty, non-faculty members, and anyone who wants to take home a book, join the conversation, or discover the many services offered by the UNR libraries.
