"From the Universidad Nacional de Rosario We have been pushing hard for this agenda to be prioritized and have another centrality within the framework of our institutional policies, this is a process that we are beginning to see at all levels of the State. Everything that is happening today is a product of that struggle, and it puts those of us who are involved with that cause in the need to try to generate all the transformations that are necessary to not lose this great opportunity that has been built collectively," said the rector Franco Bartolacci.

During the opening ceremony, a cooperation agreement was signed between the UNR and the Municipality of Rosario in which both institutions agree to carry out mutual cooperation actions for the training and improvement of human resources, the strengthening of services and the planning of actions in terms of masculinities

“I am very happy with this agreement and this joint work, every cultural issue requires problematization, and being able to do it with the University is always a privilege. We are going through a time in which from certain political and social sectors all the new struggles are questioned, and they are disqualified because they are not considered a priority or because of the language they use. The great challenge for those of us who share another vision of society is to encourage ourselves to fight that fight, highlighting that sometimes the anger and frustration of certain sectors of society who feel some of their claims are neglected is what leads them to disqualify the fight of those who seek a more just society," said Pablo Javkin, mayor of Rosary beads.

The agreement contemplates technical assistance to the Device for working with men who commit violence and the expansion of the service provided by the aforementioned Device in order to guarantee access by the university community.

Franco Bartolacci, stressed that "it is important to have tools that allow us to evaluate and measure the policies that we are carrying out in this sense to see if it is necessary to correct, transform and deepen what we are doing, which should lead us to the construction of a world, even if it is a little better”.

After the opening and signing of the agreement, the Masculinities Program was presented, which will be in charge of promoting transversal work processes in different areas of the municipality that have men as recipients.

The objective of this program is to promote the discussion of macho mandates, privileges and complicity to give rise to the emergence of free and diverse masculinities, necessary to build a more egalitarian society without gender violence.

The Secretary of Gender and Human Rights of the Municipality, highlighted that "This activity is part of an internal work that we have been doing in the Municipality and that we understood that it was necessary to institutionalize, and for this reason, in addition to the Week of Masculinities, we presented the Program and we sign the agreement with the University to continue expanding and strengthening this line of work that we believe is strategic and a priority, to live in a better society”

The Masculinities Program promotes the development of a strategic line of public policy that contemplates both the approach and prevention of gender violence, as well as co-responsible care and upbringing, sexual diversity and the health of men, generating "actions and tools aimed at eradicating gender-based violence, promoting ways of inhabiting masculinities that contribute to gender equality”.

The agenda of the Week of Masculinities continues with a meeting of spaces that work with men, which will take place on Tuesday 7, at 10, at the HECA. And on Thursday, at 18,30:15 p.m., there will be a talk/debate “From complication to involvement: Working with men who exercise or exercise gender violence”, by Ignacio Rodríguez, Daniela Viña and Matías de Stéfano Barbero . Zoom activity with prior registration and live streaming on the YouTube channel of the Secretariat for Gender and Human Rights.
