Within the framework of World Environment Month, UNR and the Municipality planted 100 native specimens.
La Universidad Nacional de Rosario and the Municipality of Rosario joined in an initiative to plant 100 native trees on Avenida Sabín between Juan José Paso and José Ingenieros
This activity was developed within the framework of World Environment Month and sought to foster environmental awareness and promote local biodiversity. Planting these trees will not only help improve air quality and reduce pollution, but will also provide habitats for various species of flora and fauna, helping to restore and maintain the ecological balance in the area.
“I want to recognize the great work of the University's Environment Area and the opportunity to build synergy with the Municipality on an issue that is so important for everyone. Since we took office, we have made all the resources available to the UNR to prioritize this issue in the collective debate. We seek not only to contribute through scientific development and the production of knowledge, but also with actions, in the generation of a culture of care," said rector Franco Bartolacci, and added: "We want to generate sensitivity in all powers of the State and in society as a whole, contributing to a social consensus of the need to take more responsible care of our environment.”

In this sense, a call was carried out for those interested in participating as volunteers in this planting process. More than 80 people registered to be part of the activity, which marks the community's commitment to caring for the environment. Likewise, students from the San Juan Diego School were participating, who collaborated in the task and who received brief training, as well as the care that must be taken when carrying out this task.
The trees were donated by the UNR and are part of a series of actions that are being carried out in environmental matters. “For us it is very important to be able to plant one hundred trees in such an important and strategic space for the city. We believe that the University should be able to continually contribute to the care of our environment, and being able to plant these trees in particular is an action that is essential to address the consequences of climate change. We want to thank all the volunteers for participating and committing to this initiative,” explained the person in charge of the Environment Area, Matías De Bueno.

“We are leaving the legacy of a hundred trees to the city, something necessary in a central artery of the city like this. Work with an institution such as Universidad Nacional de Rosario revalues this commitment to care. The native species that are being planted in the area today will also enrich the landscape and give it a different imprint,” commented the Secretary of Environment and Public Space of the Municipality of Rosario, Luciano Marelli, and added: “That so many have joined “Volunteers are something really wonderful, especially that high school students are collaborating, also marking the importance of environmental education at an early age.”
