Through virtual meetings, the proposal seeks to strengthen ties, share experiences, and enhance opportunities for new generations.

La Universidad Nacional de Rosario Together with the Secretariat of Sports and Tourism of the Municipality of Rosario, they presented the Mentor Program, which seeks to link graduates living abroad with advanced students from different disciplines, promoting support and guidance to strengthen ties and help future generations in building their academic and professional path.

This new device works in conjunction with the Rosario Residents Around the World Program of the Municipality of Rosario and forms a mentoring space through virtual meetings, in which mentors from different parts of the world will accompany students in reflecting on their academic journey, the possibilities of professional insertion and the multiple fields of development of each discipline.

The Rector of the National University of Rosario (UNR), Franco Bartolacci, explained that this initiative is crucial for building connections and strengthening the education of students in the final stages of their studies. “We are dedicated to forging links with our graduates from different perspectives, ensuring that the connection doesn't end with the awarding of diplomas. For this reason, we have enhanced our institutional space for graduates, recognizing the importance of their experiences and journeys to centralize within the University. Sometimes it's about bringing together the ends of the same thread,” he explained, adding: “We want this to translate into greater support for those in their final years of study. This program highlights the value of resources we have created that didn't exist before, such as pre-professional internships and opportunities to complement their university degree. We hope this will be one of many initiatives we can develop in this direction.”

For her part, Alejandra Mattheus, Secretary of Sports and Tourism for the Municipality of Rosario, reaffirmed the program's potential. “It's about creating and building a network of Rosario residents—more than 1200 of whom are currently living in 62 countries around the world—so they can serve as mentors for students nearing graduation. We've found a strong sense of gratitude towards the city and the University, which is why we came up with the idea of creating this mentorship program. We believe it's essential for supporting emerging talent.”

Graduates participating as mentors will play a key role in guiding, advising, and mentoring students. Students wishing to participate must have passed at least 70% of their courses and submit a letter of intent outlining their academic and professional interests.

“It is very valuable to launch this program because it is interesting that those who have already been through university classrooms and entered a specific work environment can mentor students who are following in their footsteps. This is fundamental to connecting students' interests with the world of work, and the graduate's experience is unique in this sense,” explained Carina Gerlero, Secretary of the Academic and Learning Area at UNR.

Mentors will receive an honorary certification awarded by UNR, while students will be able to add this experience as a complement to their academic training.

The initiative was jointly developed by the Graduate Studies Office of the Academic and Learning Area of the National University of Rosario (UNR) and the Secretariat of Sports and Tourism of the Municipality of Rosario. “The application form will be published soon for those interested in participating. We believe this is a tool that helps new graduates enter the workforce,” commented Julián Zanón, head of the Graduate Studies Office.
