The rector Franco Bartolacci signed an agreement with the Minister of Education of the Nation for the financing of the work that will take place in Rioja 1576, in the middle of Paseo del Siglo.
A new building of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR) will open its doors in just over a year and a half when the classroom planned for the Rioja 1576 building, in the heart of downtown Rosario, becomes a reality. The work will require an investment of 700 million pesos that will be financed by the Ministry of Education of the Nation.
The signing of the agreement between the rector of the UNR, Franco Bartolacci, and the Minister of Education, Jaime Perczyk, was held today in Buenos Aires to carry out the Aulario Área Centro work, which will have an initial budget of 661.516 million pesos and a term of 540 days. from the beginning of the work on the property that was ceded to the UNR. There will be at least ten classrooms, an auditorium, rooms for samples and multiple uses, with a total capacity for 2500 students.

“We added a new work within the framework of the national university infrastructure program. A classroom for the downtown area with a planned investment of 660 million pesos. Our University needs more than a decade of sustained investment to recover the heritage value of its buildings and guarantee the necessary working and study conditions. We started that path, with a lot of investment from our own budget and interventions in all dependencies and negotiating with the Nation a budget for large-scale works, ”explained the rector after signing the agreement.
And he added that this classroom is in addition to four others that are under development: “The Dentistry annex, the new west wing of the Humanities central courtyard, the Health Area classroom and the new Veterinary building have already been completed. Now we add this classroom and in the coming months we plan to sign for the completion of the Engineering building, a new classroom for Psychology and a new floor for Medical Sciences ”, he specified.

Bartolacci listed more works that are taking place simultaneously: ”In Projecting Science we incorporated two nests of laboratories for the UNR Project Incubator and a greenhouse, a work of more than 500 million. The investment that these programs enable us is very important and complements those that we have been making at the UNR, which allowed us to inaugurate a classroom in Siberia, two new dining rooms, the Innova building and begin to structurally recover buildings or historical spaces as we are doing in Law, Economics or Humanities or integral spare parts as we will start in Biochemicals”.
Center Area Lecture Hall
In a privileged area due to its location where a wide variety of activities coexist, the Aulario Área Centro building will house academic and institutional activities of the Faculties of Law, Economics and Humanities.
The project proposes an accessible building that will have a basement, a ground floor and six floors, which will add 1825 m2 to the structure of the UNR. It is designed with the idea of balancing the vibration of the surrounding urban space with the qualities and scale of classroom spaces that offer calm and welcoming atmospheres inside.

The entrance will be on the ground floor with a hall that links it to an auditorium for 100 people, a sample room-foyer in the basement and a multipurpose room on the first floor. This SUM will be a single fluid and continuous space, designed as a large "urban room". In it, the vertical access circulations to the five upper floors where the theoretical and practical classrooms are distributed, two for each level of 56 m2 each are installed.
The choice of construction technology, steel structure and metallic skin, in addition to facilitating and reducing construction times, will give a simple, rational and expressive character of the institutional building.
This headquarters will meet the specific need for space, but it also intends to create a place that represents the values and spirit of the institution. The proposed classrooms are designed to be flexible, allowing spaces that could be subdivided according to demand. The building is specified as inclusive in gender situations and accessible to people with different abilities, the conformation of the sanitary groups includes individual bathrooms without gender and an adapted bathroom for each floor.
