With the aim of strengthening and innovating the academic proposal of the University for the People Seniors (UPM), we conducted a process of calling for, analyzing, and evaluating more than 70 proposals submitted by professors from the various academic units at UNR.

In December, the call for teachers was launched to expand the program and maintain an updated registry of teachers interested in participating in the academic offering of courses and educational programs.

After several days of an academic committee evaluating the proposals submitted for the UPM's 2025 course schedule, it is reported that the selected courses are as follows:

The evaluation committee was made up of current and former UPM employees, as well as members of the UNR academic staff. The following criteria were used to determine which proposals were included in the shortlist:

  • The relationship between the course and the title of the teachers;
  • Vocational training;
  • Other professional background;
  • The originality of the project;
  • Previous experience in the program and calls for applications;
  • Feasibility;
  • Relationship between proposed topics and the results of the survey conducted in 2024.

Furthermore, consideration was given to ensuring that the projects submitted did not address problems or themes similar to those already being carried out in other areas of the UNR and/or within the same academic units.

Another parameter was the student's training and prior or current experience as a professor at the UNR, both in colleges and high schools. It's worth noting that the UPM strives to ensure that the academic program includes the greatest possible diversity in terms of the diverse curricula offered by all UNR programs and its high schools.

Beyond this selection process, proposals not formally shortlisted may be invited for the second semester or the following year. Some new proposals were also considered as part of a series of talks being planned by UPM.

Finally, some proposals were pre-selected for joint work with municipalities and communes in the southern region of the province.

In the coming days, team members will be communicating with those responsible for the proposals to agree on details for the start of the academic year.
