On Monday, December 4 at 10 a.m. in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Exact Sciences, Engineering and Surveying (FCEIA) located at Av. Pellegrini 250, restitution will be made to relatives of students who were victims of the illegal repressive actions of the Argentine state. in the period 1968-1983.
The activity, framed within the commemorations for December 10 - International Human Rights Day - and the 40 years of uninterrupted Democracy , is organized by the Higher Polytechnic Institute and the Faculty of Exact Sciences, Engineering and Surveying UNR based on the policy of reconstruction and historical reparation and rectification of files of members of the university community victims of State Terrorism carried out by the Human Rights Area and the Academic Council of Human Rights of the UNR (Resolution Superior Council UNR No 727/2022).
It is worth noting that this is the first time a restitution of academic records has been carried out in these academic units , although the university records of three students from the Polytechnic Institute were already returned in 2021 by the Faculty of Humanities and Arts at the National University of Rosario (UNR). Furthermore, in the case of the Faculty of Exact, Physical and Environmental Sciences (FCEIA), this is a partial restitution, as the Faculty is currently conducting an investigation and will continue to advance in this process of investigation and redress.
The process of reconstruction, reparation, and symbolic and historical rectification of the files of victims of illegal repressive actions by the Argentine state originated with the creation of the Memory, Truth, Justice, and Reparation Program within the National University of Rosario (UNR) . This program was established by Resolution CS No. 727/2022, approved in October 2022 by the UNR's Higher Council. This Resolution authorizes the inscription "Repaired File" in personal files, also allowing for the recording of events that resulted in these individuals being illegally deprived of their liberty, disappeared, murdered, or having their identity stolen—reasons that forced them to abandon their workplaces or studies. The Resolution also stipulates that the Human Rights Area is responsible for coordinating the documentary reparation and creating the corresponding procedure, which was formalized in the File Reparation Protocol approved by the Higher Council on August 24, 2023 (Resolution CS No. 050/2023).
Based on this institutional policy, Universidad Nacional de Rosario assumes the duty to contribute to guaranteeing the imperatives of Memory, Truth and Justice, establishes reparation mechanisms, preserves historical memory by publicly accepting the facts and commits the State and the institution not to repeat them. Furthermore, the procedure is aimed at complying with national and international regulations that establish obligations regarding Human Rights of the State at all levels.
From the Human Rights Area of the University, the university community is called upon, if they become aware of possible cases of arrests, kidnappings, disappearances or murders of people from the community during this period, to contact them through any of the available means. to be able to investigate those possible cases.
