The presentation addressed environmental and health issues in the region and outlined the program the Network is beginning to develop to address them.

Four research projects are developed - in cooperation -: (1) Air quality evaluation with lichens in rural environments of the Central Region. Validation of the methodology (UNC – UNR); (2) Ecoepidemiological study of cancer and malformations in the context of agricultural development in the Central Region (UNR – UNRC – UNVM); (3) Social representations about the impact on health of environmental risk factors that affect rural populations (UNR); (4) Eco-epidemiological study of wildlife in the central region of Argentina associated with the agricultural production model. Database construction (UNR – INTA). They are presented for accreditation at the UNR CyT Secretariat, headquarters of the Network's Executive Secretary.

From the point of view of financing the aforementioned projects, a budget for (1) has been obtained from two communes (Murphy and Ramallo) for the

development of the same. For (2) and (3) they were presented to the National Cancer Institute, and were selected.

NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF RIO CUARTO, 2019

The second plenary meeting, with the participation of the principal and/or alternate representatives from the various institutions, will be held on April 11 and 12, 2019. The progress of four accredited projects, such as PID at UNR, to be developed at this stage is presented. Those related to eco-epidemiological correlations in the environment and human health (cancer and malformations) and wildlife (species modifications); the implication of the analysis of social representations in communities of the Region in the imaginary of associations between health and the environment; and, finally, the validation of the air quality evaluation methodology with the use of lichens. A critical analysis of them is carried out, as well as the possibilities of enriching them by other academic teams not currently participating. It is proposed

the incorporation of academic units from UNER and UNL, basically to add, to existing projects, variables related to climate and atmosphere. Possibilities for new projects in the future open up.

With the presence of representatives of the academic community and civil society, in an open meeting, the conditions of the Central Region were presented, from an environmental and health point of view, at the genesis of the origin of the Network. Below is the set of projects planned for the coming years. A prolonged debate is held on the implications of this academic platform in the development of the problem in the Region, particularly for the community in general.

The completion of the project on air quality evaluation with lichens in rural environments is reported. It is decided to move forward with a future related project.

It is proposed to begin the development of a Teaching Program, to be implemented starting in 2020. Its characteristics are discussed in its implementation; and the different possible alternatives.
