La Universidad Nacional de Rosario paid tribute to the Human Rights Movement of Rosario.
In an emotional event and with a large audience in attendance, a tribute was held to the Human Rights Movement of Rosario, in recognition of its fight in favor of human dignity, against institutional violence and under the historical flag of Memory Truth and Justice.
This initiative, which was the closing of the I Conference “University and Human Rights, was the first tribute that the Universidad Nacional de Rosario, institutionally, carries out the human rights movement as a whole. The event was carried out within the framework of the National and International Congress on Democracy, and was an initiative of the Academic Council on Human Rights, a space of the Human Rights Area, which seeks to coordinate and make visible the work carried out on the subject by the different academic units.
The human rights activists received a work of art, made by the plastic artist Paula Elissambura, as a way of expressing the gratitude that the University expresses for the work it has been doing for years.

The event was led by the rector Franco Bartolacci, the secretary of the Human Rights Area, Paula Contino and the general secretary of the UNR, Guillermo Montero. It had the participation of deans of the University; university, provincial and municipal officials; representatives of the nocente and teaching union entities, APUR and COAD; members of the Academic Council on Human Rights; of the university community and social organizations.

“This tribute seeks to highlight what you knew how to do so that we can be a better society, so that we can consecrate Never Again, and it is also the highlighting of the institution that we aspire to be, of the values and principles that we intend to consolidate. On behalf of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario I thank you and I convey to you the commitment that we will continue working to consolidate our work in the field of Human Rights,” the rector told the representatives of the city's Human Rights Movement.

Paula Contino expressed that “it is a joy to find ourselves on this occasion celebrating Human Rights, celebrating them and celebrating each of you who are an enormous part of our history and our present. In this simple but sincere tribute from our University we intend to thank the immense fight undertaken against the immense oppressions that attack and violate all the principles that enshrine human rights” expressed Paula Contino.
