:: RATIONALE:
The internationalization of different types of audiovisual content requires an interdisciplinary approach. In a world where intercultural communication, access to global products and multilingual interaction are central processes for social, cultural and economic dynamics, academic studies must be able to take them into account.
Thus, in order to encompass this broad and relevant reality today, we need the contributions of translation studies to make sense of it, but we must also take into account the technological aspect, advances in the area of artificial intelligence, multimedia design, as well as studies on semiotics and communication, among others. By integrating this knowledge, this program fosters an interdisciplinary approach that allows not only a global study of linguistic adaptation in audiovisual contexts, but also a critical understanding of the sociocultural contexts in which this content is produced, translated and consumed with an emphasis on the challenges and opportunities posed by new technologies.
This programme seeks to overcome the current prevailing views on translation and localisation in the academic field, which are limited to specific language pairs and remain in purely linguistic or contrastive particularist approaches. In addition, it separates itself from the predominant perspective in the professional field, which focuses merely on marketing. Thus, it aims to cover the process in its entirety and complexity, focusing on multilingualism and intercultural communication as processes. It also seeks to critically study the technological tools that enable their advancement and the place of human beings as communicators in these contexts.
:: GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
Promote research and training activities related to the processes of internationalization of audiovisual content from an interdisciplinary and multilingual perspective.
:: SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
- Generate a space for reflection and strengthening around the translation, localization and design of international audiovisual content.
- To provide the university community with postgraduate training in the field of audiovisual translation, intercultural communication and the internationalization of content.
- To produce knowledge through research on topics related to technology applied to audiovisual translation, intercultural communication and content internationalization processes.
- To facilitate access to new perspectives that offer epistemological frameworks, conceptual tools, and innovative resources and instruments in the field of translation and intercultural communication with an emphasis on multilingualism and new technologies.
- Promote the creation and development of networks for exchanges in both the professional and academic fields by designing collective dialogues, exchanges about practice and discussion forums on artificial intelligence, multilingualism and audiovisual design.
- Strengthen ties with other institutions focused on the different disciplines relevant to the program by generating specific agreements that intensify the interaction between the UNR and other foreign and/or national institutions in the areas of multilingualism, interculturality and cultural industries.
