The creation of the Food Plant responds to one of the main functions of the Public University, which is to design and implement policies and action strategies to deal with relevant social problems. It constitutes a concrete social intervention, which allows the university to make a contribution to improving the nutritional quality of vulnerable sectors through the link with institutions and territorial-based organizations that provide food assistance.
It is carried out together with the Well-being Area, on the property located at Francia 754 and in coordination with social actors and institutions. Its objective will be to supply organizations with products based on stews of formulas and varied recipes with lentils, rice, noodles and corn; to which dehydrated ingredients and added carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, vitamins and minerals will be incorporated to achieve a balanced nutritional contribution.
