Observatory of Languages ​​(OBSAF)

The OBSAF is a language observatory that belongs to the CEI (Centers for Interdisciplinary Studies), of the Faculty of Humanities of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario, since 2015. Its name is due to the particular object of study, which is the aphorizations.
It is made up of teaching professionals and researchers in the area of ​​linguistics, literature and journalism.
It positions itself against the world of language, its achievements, its advances and its setbacks and does so from a valuing and respectful perspective of reality. It is about registering but not sanctioning or legislating.

:: GOALS:

  • Value intangible cultural heritage.
  • Build a corpus of aphorisms from the language in use and offer it to the academic community.
  • Analyze the aphorizations in relation to their validity.
  • Organize academic activities on the Observatory's theme.
  • Collaborate with educational institutions.

::ACTIVITIES :

OBSAF is dedicated to collecting what has strength and meaning for a community and establishes as a fundamental objective to value and preserve intangible cultural heritage, inserted in the general framework of cultural heritage.
The observatory focuses attention on the aphorizations. These are expressions that do not obey the logic of the text and the discursive genre, but highlight a specific regime of enunciation and manifest a strong detachment from their source text.
OBSAF interprets that aphorisms, designed to be repeated and attract the attention of others, make present a discourse that belongs to that invisible but socially shared heritage.
In this context, the observatory is presented as an intervention strategy, as an attentive look that identifies, values, recovers and records manifestations that are part of the intangible heritage.
To achieve this, it proposes collaborative and open work that actively seeks the participation of different members of the community as a way of systematically approaching the language in use.
A corpus has been compiled and is continuing to expand it, with aphorisms from various fields. This material allows for research and analysis.
OBSAF is a space open to all those who want to be part of this perspective of studying and evaluating the language in use.
