The UNR is launching a packed schedule of cultural and recreational activities.

In the month that celebrates good treatment of the elderly, the Universidad Nacional de Rosario shares an agenda with multiple activities with the purpose of working for the well-being of older adults and creating safer, more inclusive, and respectful environments.

“In complex times like the ones we're going through, it's important to prioritize the good treatment of children and the elderly,” said Bartolacci, adding that the Open University for Seniors Program aims to support this segment of the population not only through courses but also by promoting social interaction and support networks during this stage of life. “We're pleased to be able to create things that bring joy to their souls,” he emphasized.

In this way, the UNR adheres to the Month for the Good Treatment of Older Persons, in line with the principles established by the Inter-American Convention on the Protection of the Human Rights of Older Persons, approved in Argentina through Law No. 27.360. It also complies with Resolution No. 66/127 of the United Nations General Assembly, which recognizes the abuse and mistreatment of older persons as a global social problem that violates the rights of millions of people around the world.

Within this framework, and with the commitment to strengthening a positive, inclusive, and rights-based approach to older age, the UNR Open University Program for Older Persons will carry out, throughout the month of June, a schedule of activities aimed at raising awareness of situations of abuse and age discrimination, as well as promoting spaces for reflection, production, and academic training related to the topics of good treatment, dignity, autonomy, and active participation of older persons.

These actions aim to promote a culture of good treatment both within the university setting and in society at large, reaffirming the institutional commitment to the full recognition of the human rights of older persons, their inclusion in all spheres of social life, and the appreciation of their contributions, knowledge, and experiences.
