:: RATIONALE:

La Master's Degree in Socio-Environmental Health It arises within the context of a profound environmental, health, and social crisis, signs of a CIVILIZATIONAL CRISIS that challenges traditional ways of understanding and addressing health processes. The hegemony of the positivist paradigm and dominant development models have contributed to fragmenting the relationship between society and nature, reducing health to biological and decontextualized perspectives.

From a complexity perspective, Socio-environmental Health proposes to overcome these fragmentations and incorporate the social, environmental, and territorial determinants of health. The climate crisis, air, water, and food pollution, multiple chemical exposures, and current production models are now recognized as central factors in the health-disease-care processes.

Given this scenario, training professionals with critical, interdisciplinary skills and a commitment to their communities becomes essential. The Master's Program in Socio-Environmental Health aims to contribute to this effort, understanding health as a social and historical process, a collective right, and a fundamental condition for a dignified life.
