Postgraduate course approved by UNR Resol. CS No. 116/95. Update Approved by CS UNR Resol. No. 728/17.
Approved by CONEAU Res. 128/08. Title with official recognition and national validity according to Resol. Nº 953/95 of the Ministry of Education of the Nation. Last face-to-face accreditation: Coneau Resolution No. 203/2018. It was also recently accredited in distance modality with a favorable Opinion of the Coneau-Act No. 570/2022.

:: RATIONALE:  The multiplicity of problems facing Public Health as a consequence of profound socioeconomic changes, changes in epidemiological profiles, new trends in social and health policies, and the operating conditions and modalities of care services; It opens up multiple and complex dimensions of analysis that require an interdisciplinary approach and multiprofessional participation. The objectives of the Master's Degree are: 1) Promote reflection on theories and methods of collective health; 2) Promote critical analysis of public health policies and goals; 3) Promote the development of strategic thinking; 4) Promote skills for the epidemiological analysis of the health situation and the evaluation of risk factors and health interventions; 5) promote the capacity for planning, promoting and preventing health in the community; 6) Strengthen training in research methodology and epidemiological studies.

:: DURATION AND MODALITY OF THE RACE: The Master's Degree is taught in face-to-face and distance modality. It has a maximum duration of 5 years from the moment of admission in accordance with current regulations. The course lasts two years, then there is a maximum period of 3 years for the presentation of the thesis.

:: ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

– Being a university graduate who demonstrates coherence between his degree and/or his career with the objectives of the master's degree.

– A note addressed to the Director of the Master's in Public Health, Mario Rovere

– Legalized copy of the university degree (front and back)

– Legalized copy of the DNI (front and back)

– CV detailing professional and academic activity, if any, work history or approach to the field of Public Health

– Note with a proposal for the thesis topic, its rationale and objectives.

– Evidence of knowledge of the Spanish language in the case that it is not the mother tongue of the applicant

Population health problems: contributions from epidemiology, statistics and demography.
Epidemiology and evaluation of health services.
Social Epidemiology.

Health Services Module
Health management and health policies.
Health services management.
Planning, theory and methods.

Module State, policies and right to health
State, social and health rights.
Health systems: organization and financing models.
Health economics.
Health policies within the framework of social policies.

Research Methodology Area
The conceptualization of Public Health as a field of knowledge and power.

:: GRADUATE PROFILE:
The Master in Public Health is a postgraduate with solid training in the specific field of public health through the study and social research of health/disease problems.
He is able to use social and instrumental scientific knowledge in solving problems related to the field of public health. To this end, it is specified that it is capable of:
– Describe and explain the conditions of collective health, being its object of study the health/disease processes and their determinants and conditioning factors.
– Apply techniques and instruments for the elaboration of socioepidemiological profiles, recovering living conditions as mediators in determining the health conditions of the population.
– Know and develop concepts of management and planning of health services, recovering historical moments and the ways in which they organized the predominant responses and their current transformations.
– Develop the concepts related to the different instances in the State/Society relationship as an organization of the social response to health/disease/care processes.
– Analyze and understand the problems of health systems and services and apply economic, political and social analysis techniques.
– Understand and critically evaluate health policies within the framework of social policies.
It also has the capacity to apply the methodology of the social sciences in research on health policies, the care system and collective health/disease conditions. He has a critical and flexible attitude that allows him to recognize the need to constantly update knowledge and work in interdisciplinary teams.
