An agreement was signed whereby the Environmental Policy Area will manage the waste treatment of one of the main rest areas on the islands of the Paraná River.

The Environmental Policy Area of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario conducted a diagnosis on the generation of plastic waste at the “Club del Río” Parador (located on one of the islands of the Paraná River), with the aim of implementing responsible separation, storage and disposal strategies.

As a result, three containers made by the company Evercaff from recycled plastic eco-boards were installed. These containers, marked for the deposit of plastics, aluminium and glass, will allow efficient waste management. The Environmental Policy Area will be in charge of logistics, transporting the materials to specialised centres for treatment.

This action is part of the “Sustainable Paradores” initiative, which seeks to promote responsible practices in recreational spaces. “Club del Río” already implements sustainable practices such as the use of eco-cups to reduce single-use plastics, solar panels that supply its electricity consumption from Monday to Friday, and biodigesters that treat wastewater, preventing it from being dumped into the river.

With this agreement, UNR reinforces its commitment to the well-being of its community and care for the environment, joining the sustainability initiatives of “Club del Río”.

Following this, an agreement was signed to offer exclusive benefits to the university community, which includes students, teachers, non-teaching staff and graduates.

Among the benefits are:

  • Free stays from Monday to Friday, except holidays.
  • 50% discount on camping rates from Monday to Thursday, except holidays.
  • 20% discount on the crossing to the inn from Monday to Friday.
  • 20% discount on tours and excursions from the Iceland ecotourism company.

To access these benefits, interested parties must present a certificate of regular student status, a pay stub or the corresponding file in digital format.
