The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) ranking classifies the 2000 best higher education institutions globally. UNR is ranked 1517.

La Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR) was ranked fourth among eight Argentine universities ranked in the ranking prepared by the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), which evaluates the top 2000 higher education institutions in the world. Several indicators are analyzed, such as investment in research and publications in English-speaking journals.

Public universities stand out both nationally and globally. The UNR is ranked 1517 in the world ranking, while in the country it was in fourth place, behind the University of Buenos Aires (390), followed by the National University of La Plata (732) and the National University of Córdoba (974). Further back, appears the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (1675), the National University of Cuyo (1747), the National University of Mar del Plata (1763) and the National University of the South (1895)..

The CWUR ranking is carried out based on the evaluation of seven indicators that are grouped into four areas: the quality of education, the integration of graduates into the labor market, the quality of teaching staff and the performance of university research. Based on this analysis, UNR achieved a score of 67,9 out of a possible 100, with outstanding contributions in research.

For the 13th consecutive year, Harvard University leads the world ranking, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University - all three from the United States -, which are followed by two English universities: the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford. Five other North American institutions complete the top ten: Princeton University, Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, and California Institute Technology.

In the top ten in Latin America, UNR is the 68th university in the ranking, which is headed by the University of São Paulo, followed by the Autonomous University of Mexico and the State University of Campinas, also from Brazil, which has six universities in the ranking. . The only Argentine is the UBA in 4th place.

The CWUR report warns that Argentine universities are “losing competitiveness” on the international stage compared to “well-funded institutions.”

Center for World University Rankings

The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) is a consulting organization that provides policy advice, strategic insights and services to governments and universities to improve educational and research outcomes.

Since 2012, CWUR has published this academic ranking of global universities that evaluates the quality of education, employability, quality of teaching staff and research without relying on surveys or submissions of university data. The ranking began as a project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with the goal of ranking the top 100 universities in the world.

It was quickly disseminated by universities and media around the world and many requests were received to expand it. In 2019, the ranking was expanded to include the top 2000 among nearly twenty thousand universities around the world, making it the largest academic ranking of universities.
