The UNR Human Rights Department, through its Socio-Educational Directorate in Prison Contexts, participated in the "Opening the Prison" event.

Last Thursday, May 29, the Third Conference "Open the Prison" was held at the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences of the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL) of the city of Santa Fe. It was coordinated by the UNL's "Crime and Society" Program, the "Prison Education" Program of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations, and the Socio-Educational Directorate in Confinement Contexts of the Human Rights Area of ​​the Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR). More than 20 organizations and institutions involved in provincial lockdowns participated in the meeting.

During the day, the Network's objectives were detailed, and three simultaneous workshops were held to update the assessment of current intervention conditions and advance the design of proposed actions. Members of the National Committee against Torture also spoke about their coordination with civil society actors. "Open the Prison" brings together state actors outside the Penitentiary Service and non-state actors who carry out various types of actions on a daily basis with inmates in the prisons of the Province of Santa Fe. The Network aims to generate a shared and pluralistic space to discuss problems and actions related to the diverse experiences involved in opening our perspectives.
