Within the framework of the 53rd Anniversary of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario, the new CUR Classroom was inaugurated, an expansion of the Faculties of Political Science and Architecture.

In an emotional ceremony presided over by Rector Franco Bartolacci, attended by Mayor Pablo Javkin, Governor Omar Perotti, the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Adolfo Del Río and the Dean of Political Science, Gustavo Marini together with the entire university community, the 53 years of the UNR were celebrated and the new Aulario de la Siberia was inaugurated.

The Minister of Education of the Nation, Jaime Perczyk, sent greetings to the University for its anniversary and stated that "public works constitute a mainstay for the recovery of Argentine public education."

In a video shown on a giant screen, the former rectors Darío Maiorana and Héctor Floriani, as well as the former secretary of building policy Juan José Perseo, the former secretary of university infrastructure, Marcelo Ranzini and the current Coordinator of University Infrastructure Eduardo Bressan, recounted the history of the architectural project.

This began in 2015 as an expansion proposal adding one floor to the Faculty of Political Science and one floor to Architecture, but in 2018 it was modified thinking of building a common classroom to reinforce the idea of ​​a university campus. The work is the consequence of a project developed by the infrastructure area of ​​the UNR and required an investment that the University made with its own budget.

The CUR Lecture Hall has a covered area of ​​2.927 m2 and a green terrace of 1900 m2, it has 27 spaces dedicated to academic activities and 2 multipurpose rooms. In addition, it has an outdoor space with stairs suitable for shows and presentations.

A special day

"We commemorate the first 53 years of the University's life by giving it and giving us an extraordinary work like this one," said Rector Franco Bartolacci and immediately made several acknowledgments. First, to the university community, given that "institutions are important transformation tools because there are great men and women who throughout history have given meaning, have left effort, commitment, much of themselves to contribute to this collective cause" .

In this sense, he thanked those of the past and those of today "for that sincere commitment, that sensitivity and professionalism to make our university present where it is not yet, to give the public university political relevance again at a time when our The country and the region need it so much" and mentioned Darío Maiorana, Héctor Floriani, all the staff in the economy and finance area, for their commitment and good administration, the company and the infrastructure area, who thought of it, the They developed and put the body so that this work is being inaugurated today.

Regarding the objectives of his management, Bartolacci proposed "to work tirelessly to guarantee better working and study conditions for our community, to recover the heritage of the UNR, which also belongs to the entire city and the province, to incorporate technology and to promote a culture of different care, that recognizes that what is public belongs to each one of us and that it is possible due to the effort made by many people”.

He made reference to the work carried out in very particular times where restrictions of the health context and difficulties of an economic nature had to be overcome, but which did not prevent the development of works in the Faculties and Schools of the University. "This is the kickoff of the Master Plan that we are developing with the province and municipality that will transform the University City and recover the entire neighborhood."

“Today is a special day because we celebrate the first 53 years of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario, because we inaugurate this extraordinary work and because the day of the political scientist is celebrated," the Rector celebrated and emphasized: "Everything we do for this house that we love is precisely so that the UNR is a little bigger every day, strengthens as institution and make a contribution to a country that needs it very much, perhaps more than before.”

He expressed the importance of making the University an institution of excellence that accredits this training, but also that it is a device that transforms the society in which we are living, "that gives our people a horizon of hope."

Then, Mayor Pablo Javkin took the floor, who confessed that the city got used to the contribution of the University in terms of architecture, in reference to the Faculty of Humanities and this Lecture Hall. “In this interaction with the ravine and the avenue, the link between Siberia and the city changes. We are going to take a big step in the environment, generating the first transformations of that dream project of Ciudad Universitaria that we face with the Nation, province and municipality”, he said and added: “It will transform the entire landscape, with a University more integrated into the city , in a place that identifies scientific production with the future of our people”.

For his part, Governor Omar Perotti stated that "we can be the heart of the knowledge economy." He stated that he was convinced of the capabilities of the scientific and technological sector, of the talents that the region has and that the University has known how to train in the best way. “These first 53 years have undoubtedly generated very valuable advances in the life of the university institution, the city and the entire province. In these years, the foundations have been strengthened that allow us to dream that the necessary talents will emerge from these classrooms that will give us the possibility, through knowledge, of a new stage of development in the city, the region and all of Argentina”.

A light in the ravine

The dean of the Faculty of Architecture Adolfo del Río expressed that "it is a dream come true" and highlighted the process of institutional continuity at the Rectorate and management level in the area of ​​university infrastructure. “It is the first shared building and a new way of seeing the physical spaces at the University,” he said and added: “It is a great work of architecture, we will be able to live it, exhibit it with great pride both for its concept and its materialization. . It is a lantern in the ravine and now it is the visible face of the University from Belgrano avenue and the southern access”.

The new classroom promotes a relationship between two levels and defines a new urban edge. It is an intervention that solves more aspects than a classroom building, in which the exterior spaces provide visual qualities and variants of use. It should be noted that it was designed in a sustainable way, ensuring efficiency in terms of water consumption, demand for light and thermal energy, as well as in the use of materials and resources.

The work is complemented by the intervention of the area that surrounds it, with the installation of new lighting fixtures, landscaping, tree planting and the layout of the street in the "pedestrian command" style that links it to the building structures of the Faculties of Science. Politics and Architecture.

Regarding what this work means for the Faculty of Political Science, its dean Gustavo Marini expressed that it will allow accounting for its expansion. “We have ceased to be a small Faculty to be a very thriving academic unit with a truly significant will to work and insertion in the territory. He also stressed that to carry out these works, not only money is needed, but will, drive, love. That is what this work reflects, the love of the UNR community for this to be possible”.

Finally, Governor Omar Perotti presented Rector Franco Bartolacci with two ceremonial flags, one from Argentina and the other from Santa Fe. Then, together with the other authorities, they performed the traditional ribbon-cutting to officially inaugurate the CUR Lecture Hall.
