Chiqui González was honored with the title Doctor Honoris Causa from the UNR.

In an imposing setting, the awarding of the Honoris Causa Doctorate of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario to María de los Ángeles “Chiqui” González. The event took place in front of the renovated façade of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts, a place attended by important figures from the university community and the city's cultural scene.

“Chiqui” González, born in Rosario, occupied key places for the collective and popular cultural transformation. She was Secretary of Culture of the City of Rosario (2006 - 2007) and Minister of Innovation and Culture in the Province of Santa Fe (2007 - 2019).

During his journey through municipal public administration, he was in charge of the design, conceptual framework and direction of the displays and playful devices of the "Tríptico de la infancia" of Rosario, made up of the Children's Farm, the Children's Garden and the Isla de the inventions. As Minister, together with outstanding teams of collaborators, she inaugurated the "Triptych of Imagination" in the city of Santa Fe: new areas of participation, construction, play and learning, open to all citizens.

Rector Franco Bartolacci appreciated that the Public University can pay tribute to a person who worked tirelessly for the culture of Rosario and the region. “We are honoring a debt from our university, recognizing such a bright and powerful woman for the history of our city. When institutions decide to recognize someone, they are also talking about the values ​​that are considered, the mirror of what we want to be. There is a way of being, feeling and thinking about the world that moves, challenges and mobilizes the UNR community”.

A “sea” of people gathered at the Humanities façade to pay tribute to “Chiqui”.

Furthermore, the Rector acknowledged the honoree's career and her contributions to local and provincial culture. “Thank you for your sensitivity, your expertise, for putting your heart into every action, for your capacity for innovation, for asking new questions and pushing us out of our comfort zones. Thank you for reminding us that the way forward is through education and culture, and that nothing can change that.”
