Environmental Clinic Argentina Headquarters (CASA)

The creation of the Environmental Clinic Argentina Headquarters (CASA), is the result of the Interinstitutional agreement between the Environmental Clinic Corporation (based in Ecuador), Médicos del Mundo Argentina, the Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR) and the College of Physicians of the 2nd Circumscription of the Province of Santa Fe. Within the framework of the UNR Environmental Platform, it will be coordinated by the Institute of Socio-Environmental Health (InSSA) and will have the active participation of organizations local and regional social organizations, such as “El Paraná No Se Toca”.

Objectives:

  • Develop training processes that integrate knowledge, skills and aptitudes of the ecosystem that the communities inhabit, addressing the problems that affect them in a participatory manner, trying to generate joint solutions.
  • Work on the comprehensive repair of the social fabric and socio-environmental aggressions from a transdisciplinary perspective. 
  • Promote respect for collective, environmental and nature rights.
  • Collectively design comprehensive reparation policies and practices for communities.
  • Promote participatory research on socio-environmental health issues, with universities and public and/or private institutions.
  • Generate information on the health situation of communities and territories.

Project: 

Title: Construction of epidemiological profiles of the communities that inhabit the islands of the Paraná delta:

Description: 

The team that is part of the Environmental Clinic will work in the territory through direct links with the communities, generating a participatory socio-environmental cartography of the region where the task will be carried out, to later, through surveys and health controls, generate the knowledge that They allow the construction of the epidemiological profiles reported by the communities that inhabit the islands. Through these epidemiological profiles we will be able to collectively build territorial action devices to contribute to the development of community health in subsequent instances and promote new local subprojects.

General Objective:

Together with the communities that inhabit the Paraná Delta Islands, build a socio-environmental health profile that makes it possible to generate collective approach tools for the repair of the social and territorial fabric, working on human health in connection with the territories.

Specific objectives:

1 Promote respect for collective, environmental and nature rights.

2 Collectively design comprehensive reparation policies and practices for communities.

3 Promote participatory research on socio-environmental health issues with universities and public and/or private institutions.

4 Develop training processes that integrate knowledge, skills and aptitudes of the ecosystem that the populations inhabit, addressing the problems that affect them in a participatory manner, trying to generate joint solutions.

5 Work on the comprehensive repair of the social fabric and socio-environmental aggressions from a transdisciplinary perspective.
