He was appointed by the decision of the more than 70 rectors who make up the plenary National Interuniversity Council (CIN), which met today in San Luis. He will be president next year.

The rector of the Universidad Nacional de RosarioFranco Bartolacci was elected vice president of the National Interuniversity Council (CIN). The plenary session that defined the new authorities was held this afternoon in the city of San Luis. The new president is Oscar Alpa, rector of the University of La Pampa (UNLPam).

The CIN is a public body for coordination, consultation, and proposals for university development policies and strategies. It brings together the rectors of the country's 73 public universities. Each year, its leadership is renewed, and the person who served as vice president during the previous term is elected as president. Bartolacci will serve as vice president this year, and will serve as president of the university council for the next term.

Bartolacci reviewed the challenges posed by this new appointment at the National Council of National Research Councils (CIN), from where he will promote academic and administrative reform for universities, in addition to resuming the call in the National Congress for a university financing law.

Franco Bartolacci "The CIN must assume a role in planning and managing the university reform that is needed today, a reform that is both administrative and academic."

How did this appointment as a CIN authority come about?
Every year, the president and vice president are formally elected. The president is actually the one who served as vice president until last year. In addition, the authorities of the 12 CIN committees are decided. The president and vice president of these committees are elected. These 24 people make up the executive committee, which is where I have participated until now. Naturally, other members proposed me to assume the vice presidency.

It's also a validation of the work at UNR. What's your analysis?
This is the first time that the leadership of the FUA (Joaquín Carvalho) and the CIN have both come from the UNR; that is very important.
