On September 14 and 15, 2023, the VI International Meeting of Thesis Students and Researchers on Prison Issues and Access to Educational Rights - EITICE will be held at the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations.

La Universidad Nacional de Rosario, through the Directorate of Education in Contexts of Confinement of the Human Rights Area in coordination with the Center for Research in Socio-educational Contexts of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations (UNR), will organize and participate in the VI edition of the EITICE. This space for exchange arises as an initiative of different universities in the region, with the purpose of promoting research on the subject of reference, understanding the particular responsibility that higher education has in the development of research in Latin American countries, being its main referent.

It will have a hybrid modality, where only the virtual participation of those who register for the meeting as attendees will be accepted, with the participation of the exhibitors and/or speakers in person.

This sixth meeting seeks to recognize, bring closer and consolidate the research groups, researchers and thesis students whose research topics are linked from the themes of deprivation of liberty and access to education and their articulations with access to others rights and who have completed their research in the last 5 years from the date of the event or who have research underway or approved for implementation.

The papers presented will be registered within the framework of a collective work space called “Methodological Laboratory” The proposal is that from the written and oral presentations, the exhibitors who participate in the table ask questions and interrogations to the research problem presented by the colleague, promoting the creation of a critical academic space that enriches the construction and development of the investigation in question.

It is important to point out that a "Experience Systematization Workshop", whose purpose is to provide a space for exchange and discussion for all those actors who have been passing through educational spaces in contexts of deprivation of liberty.

This year, the Pre-EITICE It will be a Latin American Meeting of university students in contexts of deprivation of liberty or who have already gone through the university device in prison to discuss experiences and reflections in a virtual way about their educational trajectories in prisons in Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile , Uruguay, etc.).

In a socio-political context where punitive projects are consolidated in movements, organizations and parties that promote punishment as the main argument for conflict resolution, it is essential to stage the potential that education in contexts of deprivation of liberty configures, as an alternative to build safer and more inclusive cities, anchored not in subjugation but in the expansion of Human Rights.
