Each student with their diploma. In an emotional ceremony last night, diplomas were awarded to the graduates of the "Otra Vuelta" Program, the virtual high school for young people and adults. The “Otra Vuelta” program is a secondary level educational proposal, with a synchronous and asynchronous virtual modality, which also includes some face-to-face instances to complete the support of this journey that arose with the purpose of ensuring that young people and adults who had to postpone their studies have a new opportunity to complete the high school diploma of the Pre-University School in Social Sciences and Humanities.
Today, "Otra Vuelta" has approximately 500 students enrolled in around 25 classrooms, both virtual and in-person. At yesterday's ceremony, 35 diplomas were awarded to graduates who completed the program in 2025—the first to have completed the full two-and-a-half-year course. Many of these graduates are now pursuing undergraduate degrees in fields such as Psychology, Law, and Social Communication. Students can begin their studies at the start of the year or in the second semester; to do so, they must complete a pre-registration form.
Behind each of the newly graduated students lies a network of shared efforts, study, and progress, supported by entire families who share in their dream of graduating. On this occasion, the story of Rosa and Romina—mother and daughter—received recognition amidst applause, tears, and hugs.
Romina and Rosa represent two generations united by the same desire to complete their secondary education. Both were able to combine classes with the responsibilities of motherhood; the flexibility offered by online learning was fundamental for them to progress and finish this stage of their secondary education.
Rosa proved that there are no age limits when the desire to excel is genuine, and with a trembling voice, she reflected her pride in this achievement: “I am so happy, at my age, to have accomplished this. I am so grateful to my teachers who helped me so much. I wish many blessings to my classmates and teachers who helped and supported me, and to my daughter as well; we were able to finish together. That is so beautiful, unforgettable,” she concluded, tears welling in her eyes.
The Rector of the National University of Rosario (UNR), Franco Bartolacci, visibly moved, congratulated the graduates and highlighted the social role of the Otra Vuelta Program. “We believe that the University is much more than the training of professionals and, above all, that the UNR is much more than a university in the traditional sense. We firmly believe that education is what changes our lives, saves us, and transforms us forever, both individually and collectively,” he stated.
Bartolacci highlighted the students' stories of effort and emphasized the importance of expanding these public inclusion policies in the face of the daily challenges of the most vulnerable sectors: “We especially congratulate them for their courage in deciding to return to finish their studies, for their willingness to continue their coursework despite family and work responsibilities, for the message they send with their bravery to those who have not yet made the decision, and for their example, which is moving and a source of pride.”
“Education makes us free and transforms us, and the University, which is much more than just training professionals, produces things every day that change the lives of many people and help the country to be better. That's why we must take care of it; it's one of the good things Argentina has, even with all that still needs to change. Every day we are awarding diplomas that certify that the dreams these young people and adults entrusted to us have been fulfilled. Defending this program is defending the right to a future,” he added.
“Otra Vuelta” began in 2022 and, with each cohort, its reach has grown exponentially, demonstrating that physical distance and lack of time are no longer excuses when opportunities arise with a commitment to building educational bridges.
