The Minister of Universities of Spain is a Doctor in Economic Sciences, a specialist in issues of governance, management and analysis of public policies.
Within the framework of the XV National and VIII International Congress on Democracy that is taking place in the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations, the UNR awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to Joan Subirats Humet, current Minister of Universities of Spain.
The event was chaired by the Rector Franco Bartolacci, godfather of the honoree, the Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations Gustavo Marini, the Vice Dean Cintia Pinillos, the Spanish Ambassador to Argentina María Jesús Alonso Giménez and the Consul General of Spain Jaime Gonzalez Brown.
Joan Subirats Humet is a PhD in Economic Sciences, professor of political science and researcher at the Institute of Government and Public Policies, a specialist in governance, management and analysis of public policies, as well as problems of democratic innovation and civil society, topics in which He has published numerous books and articles. In recent years, he has held political and institutional responsibilities in the field of culture and education at Barcelona City Council.

The Rector Franco Bartolacci thanked him for his presence and expressed his desire to incorporate him into the faculty of the University. Universidad Nacional de Rosario, a decision that was approved unanimously by the Superior Council. “When an institution decides to recognize someone, it says a lot about that person and also a lot about itself. This distinction has a double objective: to value their career and their present commitment and, in the same act, to also say what we aspire to be.”
Bartolacci pointed out that with this recognition, not only his long academic, political and institutional career, the relevance of his contributions to social thought, the analysis of political science and public administration, but also "the commitment that each of these works and studies denote to be able to problematize what happens to us and imagine how to transform it”.
“We are at a historic moment in which it is more necessary than ever to be able to reinvent everything. There are several clues of what we should do in many of his works", he said and added: "Today we come to recognize that will and vocation to associate intellectual production with the commitment to institutional work that is very necessary to be able to make a contribution from the thought that translates into transformative action.
Likewise, the Rector expressed to Subirats the will of the UNR to strengthen ties and links to be able to work together from the institutions they preside over. "Thank you for helping us to think about the champ and fucked up world we are living in, for giving us some clues that allow us to make a better reading of these problems and show us that commitment is the way we have to transform what we are going through"
Then, he presented the Minister of Universities of Spain with the Title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the UNR and a medal. Meanwhile, the dean of the Faculty of Political Science and Vice Dean Cintia Pinillos also gave him some gifts. Finally Joan Subirats Humet gave his master class.
