Within the framework of the National and International Congress on Democracy, the Armenian Chair and the Study Group on Geopolitics of the Caucasus and Asia Minor of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations, in collaboration with the Social and Union Action Area of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario They organized the visit to Rosario of the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in the Argentine Republic, Dr. Hovhannés Virabyan.

On Thursday, November 3, the conference of Mr. Ambassador Dr. Hovhannés Virabyan "Armenia, established human rights and consolidated democracy: new challenges" was held, the commentator was Mg. Sabrina Demirdjian, Director of the UNR Armenian Chair, with a large participation of students.

Within this framework, the Ambassador expressed: “A year ago, Armenia received an influx of 22.000 refugees from Syria, people with limited resources, created decent living conditions and guaranteed their integration into society.

Armenia's priorities are the protection of the human rights of refugees, ensuring conditions for a decent life, the war in Ukraine also caused a wave of immigrants, both Ukrainian and Russian citizens to Armenia, proximity and connection with knowledge of the language on the part of Armenia as well as freedom and the rules that govern the country were key factors. We are talking about tens of thousands of citizens who settled at this time in Armenia, citizens of Ukraine and Russia.

On the other hand, the citizens of border areas with Azerbaijan and Armenia became the target of attacks from Azerbaijan, in this sense the well-being and security, as well as the physical integrity of the citizens of Armenia are issues that are in the order of the day.

Finally, the biggest challenge in Human Rights at this moment is to ensure the return of the prisoners of war, the disregard for the provisions of the bilateral declaration of the ceasefire, Azerbaijan denies the possibility of return to Armenia of Armenian prisoners of war among them civilians, these are forced disappearances that cannot go unpunished, this crime not only affects the direct victims but also their families and all of society.”

Previously, the Round Table coordinated by Prof. Babini, Elian was held: “The Armenian question in International Relations”, made up of Dr. Nélida Boulgourdjian who spoke on “Armenian Immigration in Argentina”, representing the Universidad Nacional de Rosario Students María Florencia Nardelli presented “Historical Obligations and Reparations: The Armenian Case” and Enzo Sánchez “The Armenian Question between history and memory.”
