The PhD in Pharmacology from the Complutense University of Madrid was recognized for his research on the biomedical use of cannabis and cannabinoids.

La Universidad Nacional de Rosario awarded the Honoris Causa Doctorate Degree to Dr. Jorge Manzanares Robles in a ceremony that took place at the University Cultural Space. It was chaired by the Vice-Rector Héctor Darío Masía and the dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Gabriela Pisterna, godmother of the honoree.

“For those of us who belong to the health area and especially to teaching and research in pharmacology, we are proud of the presence of Dr. Manzanares Robles because we identify him as our benchmark in the scientific advancement of knowledge about the biomedical use of cannabis and cannabinoids and because He is recognized for his human qualities in the American and European continents as a teacher", expressed in the laudatio Dr. Adriana Martínez, Full Professor of the Chair of Pharmacology of the Faculty of Dentistry of the UNR who highlighted: "For him the medicine It never ceased to be a social good, it will never be a consumer good”.   

“It is a very exciting moment for me and it is also a great honor and responsibility that I can join with this important link to the UNR and be able to contribute to the work that is being developed. I will do everything possible to achieve the mark of quality, honesty and academic value that this public institution deserves", expressed the honoree who, after acknowledging, gave a lecture entitled "The role of pharmacology to normalize behavior in psychiatric disorders and in the adictions".

The event took place in the Cultural Space of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario.

On June 8 and 9, Manzanares Robles will chair the First International Symposium on the Use of Cannabis and Cannabinoid Derivatives organized by the UNR and the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (Spain).

Dr. Manzanares Robles graduated in Pharmacy from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1985 and received his doctorate in Pharmacology from the Faculty of Pharmacy in 1987.
