:: RATIONALE:

Most of the economic and social activities that people carry out for their survival and well-being are threatened by a wide variety of “risks” , which can be defined as “potential events that are harmful to individuals and society in general”.

Specifically, the existence of the risk, the harmful consequences of its occurrence (the loss), and the ways to repair them, constitute the basic elements of the reason for being and existence of insurance as a protection system.

It should be clarified, in order to fully understand the use of the term "insurance" , that it is a way of simplifying a complex set of socio-economic activities, which in addition to the so-called "traditional insurance" (personal and property damage insurance), also includes Health Systems, Retirement and Pension Systems, and Social Security Systems in general.

All of these involve the essential elements that define insurance. The existence of an " insurable interest" (life, health, property, etc.), an identifiable "risk" (death, illness, accidents, theft, fire, general losses), and the "premium" (the fee or basic amount paid) all technically define the presence of an activity equivalent to traditional insurance.

Knowledge and the correct application of techniques, in the study and control of risks, as well as in the ways of managing insurance activity, are fundamental for decision-making in the insurance field, which by its nature has a strong random component in the construction of insurance coverage, with the aim of achieving solvent institutions.

In this context, the Diploma in Insurance Management is a training proposal linked to the problems of insurance production and management in the public and private sectors, and to the use of methods related to risk forecasting and prevention, and ways to mitigate them.

There is no doubt that a Diploma in Insurance Management will be a very positive contribution to the insurance activity of Rosario and the surrounding region, given that it constitutes one of the most important insurance production areas in the country, where top national insurance companies reside.
