Tuberculosis is a highly contagious infectious disease, whose vaccine is ineffective and its treatment is very prolonged, making it a health problem of global relevance. His laboratory studies the interaction between the immune system and other systems, such as the endocrine system, to understand how an appropriate defensive response is established, and in this project the participation of a family of proteins that regulates the expression of genes involved in this was analyzed. type of response. These proteins constitute interesting molecular targets in the design of new therapeutic strategies for tuberculosis.

The data shown correspond to measurements of the expression levels of the genes of these receptors in patients with tuberculosis and healthy controls, as well as other immunological and endocrine mediators involved in the anti-tuberculosis response. What was done was to describe the status of all these molecules in patients with different clinical involvement and compare it with that of healthy individuals.

The data on the transcripts of the different genes as well as the plasmatic mediators contribute to the characterization of the immunoendocrine response in this disease, and allow them to be used by those who work on this pathology with a similar approach, both comparatively and to analyze possible Immunoendocrine interactions in other in vitro or experimental models.
