The South-South Cooperation Program of the Mercociudades Network will finance projects for up to 10 thousand dollars
The Mercociudades Network, through the South-South Cooperation Program, calls on local governments that are members of the network, together with public universities and social organizations in South America, to present cooperation projects, with the possibility of obtaining financing, which can be requested in one or more of the following modalities:
- Technical Assistance
- Exchange of experts and officials
- Internships
- Forums/Workshops/Seminars
- Human Resources Training
- Communication and visibility materials and products
The main objective is the promotion of interaction between the member cities of Mercociudades and with third parties, in order to favor the development of the thematic priorities of the Network through South-South cooperation.

Its specific objective is to promote the addressing of issues prioritized by Mercociudades, through its central slogan. “diverCITIES: Inclusion for the 2030 Agenda”, with a special focus on working for more plural and inclusive cities; global and sustainable; innovative and efficient. Placing as the main axis of the call rights, with special focus on the right to the city, care cities; within the following thematic axes: Migrations, Vulnerable populations, Innovation, Gender, Care systems and Health
All the initiatives proposed must have the participation of at least two local governments that are members of Mercociudades, universities of the Montevideo Group Association of Universities and civil society organizations.
The execution period must be 12 months, and may be postponed for duly justified reasons up to 6 more months. The Network will receive proposals until October 1, 2024.
