This Tuesday, April 30, the first virtual meeting “Discussion on considerations to take into account in the university life of people with hearing disabilities” will be held.

The proposal is organized by the Human Rights Area, specifically by the Institutional Pedagogical Support Program for students with disabilities that is housed within the Inclusion and Accessibility Directorate. It will be held virtually, at two times, at 14 and 18 p.m., since to date, there are more than 90 registered; It is intended for teachers and non-teachers interested in the subject, and for those who are currently accompanying the university career of people with hearing disabilities.

The conversation aims to transmit notions related to accessibility guidelines that can be articulated by teachers and non-teachers to improve the quality of communication exchange, eliminate attitudinal barriers, in addition to building support strategies, as well as class design and will be coordinated by the Graduate in special education for deaf people, Betina Peppino. This instance is the result of several years of interdisciplinary work to guarantee the right to education of deaf people and is another step to promote accessibility within our UNR community.

In addition to taking a tour of the work that the Support Program has been developing with the students, different topics will be addressed such as the regulatory framework and conceptualizations of disability, guidelines, considerations and tools to take into account to accompany the university career of people. with hearing impairment.
