The agreement seeks to deepen research on environmental issues and on Gender, Diversity and Violence Policies.

La Universidad Nacional de Rosario signed a scientific collaboration agreement with the University Institute of Maritime Safety (IUSM) to investigate environmental issues related to the Paraná River. The rector Franco Bartolacci and the head of the IUSM, Enrique Font, were present.

The agreement seeks that both entities participate jointly in actions of cooperation, complementation, exchange of scientific and technical information, as well as promote the development of training, advisory and research actions.

“We started a long time ago to work hard on specific actions in environmental matters. The UNR has a very important team of researchers that works from different perspectives on this issue and for that reason we decided to build a specific agenda that addresses the problems in our area. We want the environment to be one of the construction pillars of our university”, explained the rector Franco Bartolacci, adding: “We strengthened our Environmental Studies Platform and our Environmental Observatory to be able to work actively on issues that are important to our region. This agreement will allow us to continue deepening actions, especially in the area of our Paraná River”.

Some of the scientific topics that will be deepened by this agreement will be: Management in the Prevention of Aquatic Pollution; Protection of Natural Resources; Criminal Investigation to Address Environmental Crimes; Maritime Safety and Navigation Police; and Promotion of Good Policing Practices.

Enrique Font valued the growth of the University Institute of Maritime Safety and assured that this joint work with the University will make it possible to expand the investigations that are being carried out in environmental matters. “It is always important to be able to work with a Public University, and interact with its researchers. Prefecture has a strong capital that is the territorial distribution, which seems to us an interesting resource to be able to deepen scientific research and development”.

The head of the UNR Gender and Sexualities Area, Florencia Rovetto, was also present, since another of the edges of the agreement includes being able to work on Gender Policies, Diversities and Violence. The delegation was completed by Senior Prefect Mauricio Oscar Velazquez and Principal Prefect Gerardo Eugenio Barrios.
