The UNR reaffirmed its commitment to building an inclusive and quality higher education within the framework of a new edition of the Ibero-American Congress on University Teaching.

La Universidad Nacional de Rosario participated in XIV Ibero-American Congress on University Teaching (CIDU 2026) Held in Spain, this year's event, themed "The University as a Healthy Ecosystem: The Challenge of Well-being," has established itself as one of the most important forums for pedagogical debate in Latin America, bringing together specialists to reflect on the challenges of higher education.

During her participation, Carina Gerlero, Secretary of Academic Affairs and Learning at the National University of Rosario (UNR), emphasized that “the central focus was holistic well-being in universities, understood not only in material terms, but as an ecosystem encompassing the pedagogical relationship, teacher training, and post-pandemic mental health.” In this regard, she stressed that “educational quality is inseparable from a coexistence guaranteed by comprehensive policies.”.

Innovation and Inclusion with a global perspective

The UNR presented its model of “Policies that guarantee inclusion, well-being and rights” aligned with the objectives of the UNR Agenda 2030Among the points that generated the greatest international impact are the advances in expanding rights from a comprehensive perspective, which links teacher and student welfare policies with actions such as the transvestite-trans employment quota—of great interest to the non-teaching sector—, proposals for free and situated teacher training, curriculum updates that guarantee quality learning and inclusion, and the Return Program. Regarding the latter, the Secretary of the Academic and Learning Area noted that the program aroused considerable interest. "for its focus on improving graduation rates through academic support, which is a problem that is generally faced in different parts of the world.”

Strategic alliances and dual degrees

Beyond the discussions at the CIDU, the UNR's agenda in Spain included an intensive tour of leading universities in Galicia, Catalonia, Valencia, and Madrid, with the aim of establishing specific cooperation initiatives. The challenge posed by the UNR is to transform framework agreements into tangible opportunities for its community. The lines of work include:

  • Advancing Dual Degree Strategies in undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
  • Designing common online coursesThe COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) methodology and Microcredentials facilitate the development of specific training proposals for shared coursework and certification, benefiting students and teachers from both countries.
  • Facilitating Academic Mobility through programs such as Erasmus, short research stays and summer courses.
  • Promote new experiences of Joint supervision of doctoral theses
  • Exchange strategies for academic development and pedagogical training.

The value of internationalization

For UNR, this systematic connection with the Spanish academic landscape represents a strengthening of its internal processes. “Being able to discuss what is happening in different places allows us to develop new pedagogical, research, and outreach strategies, taking advantage of the richness of interculturality and the policies implemented in other universities,” explained Gerlero.

Finally, the Secretary concluded that inter-institutional exchanges offer an opportunity for institutional growth: "By sharing different experiences and realities, the exchange provides an intercultural perspective that strengthens us as an institution in our practices, processes, and methodologies.”
