It is a space of support and belonging for the children of the República de la Sexta neighborhood. It promotes the connection between the university community and the neighbors of the neighborhood, through artistic and recreational activities.
The UNR Cultural Center is located at Riobamba 189 Bis, twenty meters from the Rosario University Center (CUR). Its priority goals include strengthening the link between the university community and the community of the República de la Sexta neighborhood, through artistic activities.
For more than 10 years, the Cultural Center has been developing free artistic-recreational workshops with girls, boys and adolescents, which provide the opportunity to explore and practice art in its different forms of expression, promoting creativity, self-esteem and socialization, motivating cultural exchange and developing the "“Be artists”.
It is a space of support and belonging for children who spend their afternoons at the Center accompanied by art professionals, students and university professors, with whom they share games and learning.
To carry out its function, the UNR Cultural Center works in coordination with state and non-governmental institutions linked to child care - such as primary and secondary schools, health centers, community centers, among others - and with various academic units of the UNR, promoting joint strategies that contribute to guaranteeing the rights of boys and girls.
The UNR Cultural Center is a space that promotes respect for one's own body and that of others, where the subjectivity and knowledge of everyone is valued, so that children can play, learn, and imagine.

In this workshop, the use of body percussion, singing and the approach to various musical instruments (percussion, guitar and piano) play a fundamental role, where the physical body, the mental and emotional plane come into play, with proposals aimed at working on motor skills, cognition and emotion, from a sound recording.
Songs are also composed based on the interests and concerns of the children and recovering, from their perspectives, the identity of the República de la Sexta neighborhood.
This workshop is also linked to the Extension Project “The Sounds of the Sixth”, which takes place at the JE Blanco Primary School, where specific learning of various instruments is developed and their assembly is promoted.

The practice of classical dance requires disciplined work that encourages concentration and body, spatial and musical awareness to achieve precision in the succession of movements. It improves coordination, balance, strength, flexibility and agility, while promoting creativity and memory in the creation of choreographies.
This is a key workshop to work on the group challenge: the importance of being part of a team (ballet/dance corps).
Classical dance is a universally valued discipline. Giving children access to it not only allows them to appreciate a type of art but also to connect with a cultural tradition.

Different rhythms are worked on: urban, Latin, Arabic and pop, practicing sequences and choreographies with movements and steps specific to each style.
In a playful way, promoting a space for games, learning and socialization, the musical tastes and interests of the participating boys and girls are accommodated, enabling them to occupy an active and creative place in the construction of choreographies.
We also work with boys and girls preparing presentations to the public, making costumes and designing makeup.

This proposal seeks to encourage creativity and skill, both at an individual and group level. Drawing and painting enable the expression of feelings, emotions and sensations and are essential for those who are more introverted. They also facilitate the development of fine motor skills and the practice of writing.
This workshop focuses on generating and selecting colours using various types of paint: tempera, acrylic and watercolours.
With an eye on the environment, productions are made from the reuse of materials such as cardboard, cans, wood, plastic bottles, nylon bags, etc.
This workshop involves collective mural activities and the design and creation of each of the stage sets for the productions at the UNR Cultural Center.

Expressiveness is encouraged through gestural representation, with particular emphasis on observing behaviour and emotions. Stories, narration and the importance of the group are worked on.
It is an activity that allows, through parody, to resize lived situations, feelings and thoughts; where boys and girls can experience the representation of different roles on the scene and also take the place of the spectator.
It is also a workshop that integrates the various artistic activities that take place at the Cultural Center; it is from there that collective creations are addressed that lead to productions (exhibitions, plays, etc.)

This is an ideal discipline for developing physical skills, providing resources to strengthen balance, orientation, coordination of movements, strength, endurance and flexibility. Emphasis is placed on caring for one's own body and that of others.
This space works especially on concentration, discipline, and perseverance, promoting self-improvement through floor acrobatics, juggling, hula hoop, and balancing activities, among others.
Everything learned in the workshop always takes center stage in the end-of-year exhibitions.

This is an ideal workshop for children to create their own stories by manipulating personified objects.
Narration is worked on, starting from reading stories, anecdotes, descriptions of everyday scenes, dreams and emotions. In this introduction to the creation of stories, the aim is to learn how to organize a story into a beginning, development and end.
Various types of puppets are designed and made using recycled objects: glove puppets, stocking puppets, finger puppets, cane puppets, shadow puppets, marionettes. In a second stage, the use of the voice in connection with the created puppet is addressed.
The Cultural Center Library has a novel collection - specialized in children and adolescents - thanks to the generous donations of UNR Editora, Editorial Municipal de Rosario, Biblioteca La Vigil, Editora El Piojito Silbón, Ponsatti Libros, Prohistoria Ediciones and Editorial A que te juego un cuento, among others.
Having these books is key to stimulating children and adolescents in reading and writing, promoting their consultation in free time, between workshops.
