The Association of Grupo Montevideo Universities (AUGM) is a Network of public, autonomous and self-governed universities in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. The UNR is among the universities that, with a very anticipated vision, formed it in 1991, with the vocation of coming together in an "expanded common academic space." It has been conceived as a South-South cooperation strategy aimed at strengthening regional integration that, since then, has become an actor of recognized incidence on a regional and global scale. Identified, in particular, for his strong and sustained commitment to the defense of Higher Education as a social public good and human right. AND; in general, with the sustainable, inclusive and autonomous development of the region.
In order to crystallize these postulates and, in order to a comprehensive consideration of the processes of internationalization of universities, the network has formed various spaces and has been running for more than three decades a set of programs aimed at contemplating its various dimensions. Among them, it manages academic mobility programs; It houses numerous regional joint research groups and develops activities aimed at strengthening the anchoring of the academy with the needs of local environments and regional and global challenges.
Programs
They are technical academic groups corresponding to a discipline of common interest, where each member-university contributes its availability both in highly qualified personnel and in material resources, for scientific, technical, teaching, development, extension activities, etc.
They are technical academic groupings designed to address, with a multi and interdisciplinary approach, large thematic configurations classified as strategic, because they are transversal and of a regional rather than national nature, and which are made up of the integrated scientific-technical academic offer of the Group's universities.
It is an academic mobility program for teachers and researchers that has become an instrument of priority value to guarantee the effective construction of the "regional expanded common academic space" proclaimed by the Association, in its Founding Intention Act.
It is a mobility program for undergraduate students between member universities. It promotes academic and cultural exchange and allows a better knowledge of the diversity and particularities of the different installed Higher Education systems. The student studies, during a semester, in another university of the group other than the country of his residence. Academic recognition of the studies completed at the destination university is granted, as a concrete and equivalent advance in the study plan of their own career.
Promotes the cooperation and integration of the universities that make it up, as well as the internationalization of Higher Education in the region, through the promotion of the mobility of regular master's and doctoral students, to study an academic period at another university. member of the Association from a country other than his own, with full recognition of the academic activity carried out.
It is based on the conviction that through the interaction between students and teachers from different universities and countries, not only academic and cultural exchange is promoted, but also a better knowledge of the diversity and particularities of the different Higher Education systems. installed. This modality also contributes to the strengthening of skills related to digital culture. It is intended for students regularly enrolled in a master's degree or academic doctorate from a member university participating in the call; with sufficient knowledge of the language in which classes are taught at the host university.
Promotes the cooperation and integration of the universities that make up the Association in the regional space, through the mobility and exchange of directors, managers and administrators among the member universities, with the purpose of carrying out a training stay at any other AUGM university with headquarters in a country other than that of the beneficiary's home university.
They are aimed at promoting early relationships between scientists in the region and promoting their joint work within the framework of the foundations of the Association. They have been held annually since 1993, with their headquarters rotating among the Group's universities, with the participation of senior researchers from member universities and abroad, as coordinators and guest lecturers.
It is an annual seminar on a permanent basis, in which a subject considered of strategic interest to the societies of the countries that make up the region is addressed and that corresponds mainly to the field of studies of the Academic Committees and/or Disciplinary Nuclei or any another theme defined by the Council of Rectors.
This program is an area of articulation, proposal, planning and carrying out joint activities with local governments, recognizing in them those responsible for defining and implementing public policies at that level and public universities the role of advisers based on knowledge and commitment social. In this way, knowledge is associated with the most everyday aspects of citizens and societies.
The observatory's objective is to recover and disseminate good linkage practices promoted for social purposes, which are the result of cooperation processes between the university system and local governments. It is a joint initiative between AUGM and Mercociudades, aimed at strengthening cooperation, interaction and/or technological linkage mechanisms between public universities and cities in the Mercosur region.
It has a Bank of Good Practices (BBP) that seeks to disseminate innovations and successful experiences in local government management, as well as facilitate direct communication between potential users and research teams, professionals and technicians, responsible for these experiences. The UNR represents the group of Advisory Delegates in this space.They are developed within the framework of a specific theme and are entrusted to a host university, in order to contribute to the consolidation and deepening of regional integration processes. These Schools maintain, both in academic and operational aspects, a close link with the other AUGM Programs and are aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students and teachers from AUGM member universities.
