For mobility scheduled between March and November 2026.
The Montevideo Group Universities Association (AUGM) announces that applications are now open for the ESCALA Teaching Program, for mobility during 2026.
This program promotes regional cooperation and integration among member universities through faculty mobility and exchanges, with the goal of strengthening academic relationships and encouraging the presentation of joint research projects. This edition will focus on the following principles:
ICollaborative International Online Learning (COIL)
This call establishes that the Activity Plan designed by UNR faculty members, in agreement with the host faculty member, must include, among the proposed activities, the design of a course using the COIL methodology (Collaborative Online International Learning).
This teaching-learning methodology connects faculty and students from diverse backgrounds across borders and disciplines. It is a form of virtual exchange that connects faculty, students, and institutions on three levels. It provides innovative resources to develop students' international and intercultural competencies through collaborative tools and the use of technology and the Internet. It also allows universities to benefit from the experience and perspectives of their international colleagues, which enriches teaching and research.
To implement this methodology, a UNR professor and another professor from the host university coordinate and discuss a course or part of it that requires collaborative work from their students, supported by technological resources. Professors participate in the design of the experience, and students participate in the execution of the activities. This methodology offers a simple, agile, effective, and accessible way to provide students with a learning experience in an "internationalized classroom" without having to travel abroad.
COILS may consider incorporating other universities, even those outside the AUGM. The methodology can be applied throughout the entire course or only for a specific section/topic.
II. Recipients
The call is open to all UNR faculty members whose seniority in their positions allows them to request paid leave for travel abroad. Priority will be given to those with post-graduation status.
