Lecture series of the Disciplinary Core of Bioactive Natural Products and their applications of AUGM

In August, the lecture series “Research on Bioactive Natural Products and their Applications: what do we contribute from the public universities of the region?” will begin , a proposal aimed at disseminating the knowledge and research results developed within the framework of the Disciplinary Center Bioactive Natural Products and their Applications of the Association of Universities Montevideo Group (AUGM).

The series will consist of four virtual meetings, which will address different dimensions related to the potential of bioactive natural products and their applications in the fields of food, health, biotechnology, and nanotechnology. The lectures will take place on the second Friday of each month, between August and November 2026.

The first meeting will take place on August 14th and will be dedicated to “Nutritional and nutraceutical potential of natural products”. By Dr. Tatiana Emanuelli, researcher at the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), Brazil; Dr. María Rosa Alberto, from the National University of Tucumán (UNT), Argentina; and Dr. Valeria Boeris, from the Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR), Argentina.

The second conference, scheduled for September 11, will address the “Pharmacological and toxicological potential of natural products” , with the participation of Dr. María Gabriela Ortega, from the National University of Córdoba (UNC), Argentina; Dr. Carlos Gamarra Luques, from the National University of Cuyo (UNCUYO), Argentina; and Dr. Rafael Porto Ineu, from UFSM, Brazil.

The third meeting, focusing on “Biotechnology and Nanotechnology Applied to Natural Products ,” will take place on October 9th. Presenters will include Dr. Pamela Bustos from the National University of Córdoba (UNC), Argentina; Dr. Diogo Robl from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil; and Dr. Paola Scodelaro Bilba from the National University of the South (UNS), Argentina.

Finally, the cycle will conclude on November 13 with a new meeting on “Food and Nutraceutical Potential of Natural Products” , which will feature presentations by Dr. Marina del Valle Soazo, from UNR, Argentina; Dr. Vanessa Pasqualotto, from the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), Brazil; and Dr. Jacqueline Takahashi, from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Brazil.

The cycle constitutes a space for dissemination and exchange on the research being developed in the public universities of the region on bioactive natural products, their potential and their diverse applications, contributing to the strengthening of academic and scientific cooperation in the field of AUGM.

All conferences will be held virtually, via the Zoom platform, from 14pm to 17pm (Argentina time).
