Postgraduate Course “Biochemical and Agronomic Attributes of Seeds”

Registration for the Postgraduate Course “Biochemical and Agronomic Attributes of Seeds” is open until August 28, 2026, which will be taught from September 1, 2026 with virtual modality.

Academic unit of origin: Faculty of Biochemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.

Intended for : Biochemists; Agricultural Engineers, and those with a degree in: Biotechnology, Food Science and Technology, Natural Resources, Biology, Genetics or related fields.

Start of course: 1 September 2026
Registration closing: August 28th, 2026

Duration and workload: 10 weeks – 16 sessions – 50 hours in total.

Foundation:
Seeds are the structural units from which the propagation of plants occurs. At the same time, they are of great interest since they constitute an important source of food and energy. Each of these applications is associated with certain attributes of the seeds such as their anatomical characteristics, morphology and organic composition. There is great variability between species, but at the same time, the metabolic pathways in seeds can vary depending on the environment and with the management practices of crops in the field. This course proposes the study of these attributes, covering different conceptual and methodological approaches. The contents are focused on the two large groups of seeds of greatest agronomic importance: oilseeds and cereals.
