It is a route demanded by students and different social sectors. It begins in 2024 and will last four years with virtual and in-person courses.
The Bachelor's Degree in Citizen Security is the new degree that, starting next year, can be taken at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario (A R). It will last four years and will be the first degree program that will combine a virtual and in-person course modality based in the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations and the Faculty of Law.
This is a training path that had been requested both by students in search instances and also requested by different sectors of society that demand specialists in security, one of the most severe problems that distresses the citizens of Rosario and the country.
The program aims to train future graduates who, whether from the field of scientific research or the public management of issues related to security, intervene in this increasingly urgent and complex problem.
Academic training will enable the development of skills and competencies to organize and manage state citizen security institutions, as well as plan and direct production, logistics and service provision processes linked to the field of citizen security.
Rector Franco Bartolacci celebrated the approval of this route by the UNR Superior Council: “We continue adding training routes to make the University present in spaces where it was not. This degree is housed in the Faculties of Political Science and Law, and in 2024 we will have the first cohort,” he explained and added: “On many occasions we have highlighted the need to build a University that is much more committed to its time, because we are convinced that everything that happens to us as a society can be solved with more and better education.”
Bartolacci highlighted the work of the two academic units, and recalled that this experience has already been replicated in the Bachelor's Degree in Tourism or in the Bachelor's Degree in Real Estate Brokerage, which can also be studied from 2024 for the first time in a public university in the country. “These are innovative formats, being able to cross structures from different faculties, according to the discipline, to do it jointly. Although it requires more work because the logic of our institution is designed from a different perspective, it seems to me that it contributes to thinking about the University from a different place towards the future.”
The degree will last four years, with a total of 2600 clock hours. In addition, he has an intermediate degree in University Technician in Citizen Security with a duration of three years and a total of 1872 clock hours.
The course is under a combined modality: 55% of the course will be taught remotely and 45% in person. Online classes will be developed on the UNR Virtual Campus platform. In addition, a pre-professional practice is contemplated in different organizations related to citizen security.
Those who graduate in Citizen Security will have solid professional training to develop their skills in the field of criminal issues, the analysis of illegal markets and drug trafficking, public policy and government around citizen security, within the framework of the respect for democratic values, human rights and the gender perspective.
