Rodolfo “Fito” Páez is a musician from Rosario, an essential cultural figure in the city, whose work has transcended borders and generations. On Friday, December 5, 2025, he was honored with the highest title of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR): Honorary Doctorate. The emotional ceremony took place at the University Cultural Center (ECU) with a 12-song concert. “We are grateful for your life's testimony, that unique way of making us feel the world and its things, which moves, challenges, and mobilizes this community,” remarked Rector Franco Bartolacci. In his acceptance speech, Páez repeatedly expressed his gratitude, dedicating the distinction to his aunt Charito, his mother, and his father; he spoke about the impact of artificial intelligence on musical creation. “You can't monetize human expression, you can't commodify everything. They can make us all idiots, but they're not going to create a Spinetta through AI, a Liliana Herrero isn't going to appear through AI. What I feel is being rewarded is precisely that: there has to be a visionary creator. Let's be human beings, not machines.”
